SEED Competition 2024 – ONGOING

Welcome to the annual Masamune Gunpla Studio Competition. This year we are ecstatic to have Seed as our contest theme; with the release of the new movie and the new kits, it was an obvious choice.
As always, we aim to focus on the 1/144 scale to make this grand competition accessible to everyone. The goal is simple: Build an entry that will wow the judges!! You can use any Gundam as the base kit as long as it’s from the Cosmic Era (SEED). Kitbashing, detailing, and modding are extremely welcomed, but the quality and finish of the build is what will get you the win.

The competition starts on September 1st and ends on December 31st. We will be revealing judging results on January 10th, 2025.

RULES

  • Your base kit must be at least 60% of your entry and must be from Seed, Seed Destiny, Seed Freedom, or any unit from the Cosmic Era Universe.
  • The rest of your entry can be composed of any other Bandai models, or plastic building materials (pla plate).
  • The seed spirit is good, keeping the theme in mind will grant you slightly better chances.
  • The scale of the build can only be between HG, EG and RG. 
  • Unlicensed kits such as Daban or other bootlegs are NOT allowed.
  • 3D printed parts are NOT admissible on your Gundam.
  • Plastic or Metal detail parts such as photo-etch, thrusters, ect are more than welcomed. 
  • 1 entry per participant.
  • The participant must have a Canadian address.
  • Old builds are welomed as long as it never placed in any other competition. (GBWC, MSMN, IPMS)
  • Build total size must NOT exceed 30cm (H) x 30cm (W) x 30cm (D). 

JUDGING

  • Craftsmanship: The quality of design and work and application of it.
  • Paint: Focusing on the aesthetic qualities, like color choice, application, and intricacy.
  • Idea: The creativity of the build and the scope of effort.

Point system: Will be evaluated on an X\10 value. 1 being bad, 10 being perfect.

  • 1st: MGEX Strike Freedom
  • 2nd: RG Gold Frame Amatsu Mina
  • 3rd: HG Destiny

SUBMISSION

  • All submissions for the competition will be made via email: info@msmnstudio.com with the Subject “Seed Competition 2024”
  • Each competitor will have to include in their email:
    • Full Name
    • Email
    • City
    • Build Name
    • Base model
    • Description (Please provide a brief description [max 300 words] of your build, including any unique features, themes, parts used, or inspirations.)
  • All submissions should be received by the final date of the competition. Late entries will not be accepted
  • All submissions must be submitted with 6 pictures:
    • From the front.
    • From the back.
    • From the left side.
    • From the right side.
    • Two of the competitors’ choices that showcase the build. 
  • The pixel size of each image must be within 1000-4000 pixels on each side.
  • Each picture MUST be less than 3MB for logistic reasons.
  • In the case of an issue with the pictures, Masamune Gunpla Studio will contact the competitor via email to give the chance to the competitor to resubmit pictures for fair judging. 
  • Judges have the full rights to remove or disqualify a submission based on the aforementioned rules or anything they deem inappropriate.
  • By submitting your entry, you grant permission for any submitted photos to be used by the competition organizers for promotional purposes.
